therapist working with a client

Why therapy?

At Victory Clinic, we believe that all of us would benefit from having a therapist. Therapy is more than just talking about our problems and stress. Therapy can assist us with our problem solving. Therapy can also help us identify coping mechanisms to improve our mental health and wellbeing.

What’s a therapist?

A therapist is a specially trained professional you can talk to, who will listen, and not judge. It can be useful to have someone to talk to who’s there for you on your journey and who isn’t your boss, spouse, family member, friend, co-worker, or roommate.

How do I find a therapist?

MHK MHP maintains the Manhattan Kansas Mental Health Providers Database.

Anyone can use the online provider directory to find a therapist or other mental health provider in Manhattan, Junction City, Fort Riley, and the surrounding Flint Hills region, who matches with their insurance, schedule, and demographic preferences.

Some of these providers specialize in telehealth and are available to patients anywhere in Kansas.

If you require assistance in navigating the database or cannot find a provider who meets your needs, please contact Victory Clinic. We’re happy to help.

Who should get therapy?

We recommend therapy for mental health for everyone, and especially if you are on other treatments such as medication, TMS, or SPRAVATO®. Therapy plus treatment is better than treatment alone for depression. At Victory Clinic, we care about our patients. Our goal is that you go into remission and stay well, and continuing in therapy will help.

What types of therapy do you recommend?

We often refer our patients for EMDR, CBT, and IFS.

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR) taps into the learning center of the brain and helps with trauma processing.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) helps us work on unhealthy thought patterns and has been found to be superior to medications for anxiety.

Internal Family Systems (IFS), which is often called ‘parts work’, helps us deal with our inner struggles, such as our inner critic.

How do I get therapy?

Victory Clinic partners with many professional therapists throughout Kansas. If you do not have a therapist, we are happy to make a recommendation. Therapy is available both in face-to-face encounters and by telehealth. With prior approval, your therapist is welcome to join you either face-to-face or by telehealth during the second hour of your SPRAVATO® treatment.
