What is Treatment Resistant Depression (TRD)?
TRD is when two or more medications fail to treat depression. After the second medication hasn’t helped, a third medication is unlikely to help (STAR*D study).
TRD is common. When medications fail to achieve remission from depression 50% of the time and with 1 in 5 adults at risk for a severe mood disorder such as depression at one point in their lives, as many as 1 in 10 people may have TRD in their lifetime.

Is there treatment for TRD?
Yes! TMS (Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation) and SPRAVATO® (nasal esketamine) are both safe, effective and FDA approved treatments for Treatment Resistant Depression.
